Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Man with Van Ilford is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all our relationships and operations. We recognise that modern slavery and human trafficking are serious crimes and violations of fundamental human rights. This statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our own activities and within our supply chains.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man with Van Ilford provides transportation, moving, and related logistics services to residential and commercial customers. Our supply chain includes vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and a range of subcontracted labour and support services. We understand that risks of modern slavery can exist at any stage of a supply chain, and we are committed to identifying, assessing, and mitigating these risks on an ongoing basis.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. This means we will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation or individual involved in forced labour, debt bondage, child labour, servitude, or any form of human trafficking. All employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to uphold this commitment and comply with applicable laws relating to modern slavery and human rights.
Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter. For employees and workers engaged directly by Man with Van Ilford, non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract. For suppliers and business partners, non-compliance may result in suspension or termination of the commercial relationship.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are strengthening our supplier due diligence processes to better identify and manage modern slavery risks. Before entering into or renewing contracts, we seek confirmation that suppliers understand and adhere to our values and to relevant legislation on modern slavery and human trafficking.
Key elements of our approach include reviewing supplier policies, assessing the nature of the work and workforce they use, and considering geographic and sector risk factors. Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, we conduct or request audits of suppliers. These audits may involve reviewing documentation, speaking with management or workers, and assessing working conditions, recruitment practices, and grievance mechanisms.
If any issues are identified, we aim to work collaboratively with suppliers to implement corrective action plans within agreed timeframes. Failure to address concerns adequately will lead to reconsideration or termination of the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Protection
Man with Van Ilford encourages all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking in connection with our operations or supply chains. Concerns may include indicators of forced labour, exploitative recruitment practices, retention of identity documents, withholding of wages, threats or intimidation, or unsafe and degrading working conditions.
Reports can be made to management or through internal reporting routes established by the company. We will take all reports seriously, investigate them promptly and sensitively, and, where necessary, involve appropriate authorities. We are committed to ensuring that no person raising a concern in good faith suffers retaliation, victimisation, or disadvantage for doing so.
Training and Awareness
We are working to improve awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key suppliers. Where relevant, training will cover the nature and signs of modern slavery, how to respond to concerns, and the responsibilities all parties share in upholding our zero-tolerance stance. As our approach evolves, we will continue to develop and roll out guidance and training materials to enhance understanding and vigilance.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our response to modern slavery risks sits with the management of Man with Van Ilford. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures through review of reported concerns, outcomes of supplier assessments and audits, feedback from workers and partners, and changes in legal or regulatory requirements. This helps us identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually and updated as needed to reflect our progress, evolving best practice, and any changes in the nature of our business or supply chains. By maintaining a continuous improvement approach, Man with Van Ilford aims to strengthen our ability to prevent, detect, and respond to modern slavery risks and to support fair and dignified work for all those connected to our operations.
